Exactly ten years ago I wrote to Professor Brooks regarding the issue of perception in his work on the COG robot. Here is an excerpt from my letter: "what may be missing in a purely empiricist robot - like COG - could be the ability to introduce order and regularity of a higher level into its impressions and sensations." I added some lines suggesting to discuss a different approach to perception on which I had worked. Unfortunately I never got an invitation, nor an answer of any kind.
