Bus stop to move

Changes to the bus services on the Hönggerberg campus: from 15 May 2013 onwards, buses on VBZ lines 80 and 69 and the Science City Link will stop at the Einsteinbrücke instead of at the Piazza. The bus stop will be moved to this new location for the duration of the summer in conjunction with the construction work on the new student housing.

The bus stop on the Hönggerberg campus is to be moved due to construction sites in the area. This will affect VBZ service lines 80 and 69 and the Science City Link. From 15 May 2013 onwards these buses will no longer stop at the Piazza between the HIL and HPI buildings, but instead at the Einsteinbrücke. A temporary bus stop will be set up leveled with the entrance to the HIG car park. The bus stop is expected to remain in this new location for the duration of the summer. Bus route 37 will not be impacted and will continue to run normally.

“We particularly advise students who have exams at the end of the semester to make sure they allow enough time for their journeys”, said David Müller, Head of Events and Location Development at ETH Zurich.

The move is due to the two student halls being built at the south-west end of ETH Zurich’s Hönggerberg campus (known as sites HWO and HWW), where ETH Zurich is building some 900 accommodation units for students by the end of 2015 (see the report in ETH Life). As a result of the excavations in connection with this building work, Wolfgang-Pauli-Strasse will be closed and buses will no longer be able to get through. “One of the reasons we are taking this step is to try to keep the noise level for students and ETH employees to a minimum”, said David Müller.
