Wine tasting: People didn`t want to appear two-faced

“People therefore were not simply trying to show themselves in a good light; the information really did alter their sense of taste”, says Siegrist. No, that doesn't follow, in my opinion. More likely is, that people simply didn't want to appear two-faced. "No, really, I didn't think it was that fantastic" is a much more likely response than: "Oh, now I hear it is rated 92 actually, I thought it was rather good." The latter would be an admission that they cannot appreciate wine.
