Test lab for cities: Commendable

Commendable effort for ETH+players in Singapore to have foresight and initiative/ willingness to inject and share critical knowledge and advanced technologies into asia challenging moulded school of thoughts, practices, and policies that badly need renewal and rethinking in light of sustainability (with our vulnerable earth in mind).

Hopefully FCL will remember that other than academia/ researchers, industry, and government, FCL Singapore, especially in Singapore context can look into working at a grassroot level with volunteers and philanthropy groups, and in turn work/ communicate closer to the people in the cities. In a non-welfare state, philanthrophy efforts is a be vibrant part of the Singapore city. I volunteer at Ground-up Initiative (www.groundupinitiative.org), a grass root group looking at sustainable lifestyle in Singapore city.

In other words, please do not forget to "work the grounds". Do work with people, your everyday city dwellers, in a hands-on way, and not just data, policies, technology and ideas etc only. Hope you can find ways to communicate and advocate your exciting research and spread your sphere of influence/ change to governments, people etc, and find ways to implement and massage your research into actualised projects/ behavioural changes etc into the core of the city/ cities.
