The story of the creation of the world in the bible is a story and cannot be disproved as such. Either you believe it or not. On the other side, the theory of evolution is a theory, but not proved as such. It is an ongoing process of cognition in it, but not proved as a whole. It has gone through a long process of errors with a true core and this process is going on. The real problem of Prof. Schmid-Hempel is, that he himself is an extremist and fundamenalist in his theory as some so called 'Christians' are it with the story of creation of the world. And fundamenalists never are on the path to truth.

Both sides should read the whole bible together with other people, because you can hardly understand this book by yourself only. And the should study the evolution theories critically and it story too. They will find some fundamental errors, even if the core of the theory is probably ok. As an exemple is the success of the stronger, that obviously is not true, but the ones that can live together, one helping the other may be nearer the truth. Just an exemple are the digestion bacteria in our stomach, without whom we cannot exist.

Having done this, you will start to understand, that the modern theory of evolution and the many thousend year old story of the creation of the world are in fact not so much different. And if you are fortunate, you start to believe the message behind the latter.
